Pictures your child makes with Peko
Your child can ask Peko to make a picture: "make me a coloring sheet of a fuzzy dog", "make a fall calendar for October", "a tree and a sunset". Peko draws it and keeps it with your child's other creations, and your child can ask Peko to print it.
Turning pictures on
Pictures stay off until you turn them on. In the Peko Pal app, open your child's Pal, tap the gear, then Peko AI. You will see a notice explaining that pictures are made by an AI model that Peko doesn't build or control, and that using it is at your own risk. Pictures switch on when you accept the notice. Creations must also be on.
Keeping it safe
- Nudity and sexual content are never made. This is always on. It can't be turned down at any level, and it is checked twice: on what your child asks for and on the finished picture.
- Pictures follow your child's conversation level. The level you choose for your child sets how gentle or grown-up their pictures are. See Choosing a conversation level.
- Topics to avoid. Anything you list under topics to avoid in your child's Peko AI settings is honored.
- If Peko can't make something, it says "let's make something different" and offers another idea. It doesn't explain why.
- There is no limit on how many pictures your child can make.
No filter is perfect, and the AI can make mistakes, which is why you can always see what your child asked for and delete a picture.
Seeing and deleting pictures
Open your child's Creations in the Peko Pal app. Everything they have made appears in one list, newest first: stories, lists, books and pictures. For each picture you can see it and the words your child used to ask for it. Swipe a picture to delete it. Peko can't print a picture you have deleted.
Pages made to fit your child
When your child asks for something to print, like a packing list, a trip itinerary, a chore chart or an invitation, Peko turns it into a colorful page instead of plain text. The design fits your child's conversation level: Little gets big friendly letters, few words and cartoon pictures, while Teen gets a cleaner, more grown-up look. Peko also uses things your child likes, from what you wrote under What Peko Knows, as decoration. The words on the page are your child's own.
If your child would rather have plain text, they can ask for it: "print it as plain text".
Information pages from Wikipedia
When your child asks for facts about a subject, like "print me info about volcanoes" or "a page about Abraham Lincoln", Peko doesn't draw a picture. It reads the Wikipedia article and prints a one-page encyclopedia entry in plain words your child can follow, with a photo or two. The words come only from the article, matched to your child's age. A QR code at the bottom opens the full article, so your child can ask you to read more together. The page names Wikipedia as the source, says the text is summarized, and credits each photo's author and license.
The page follows your child's settings: the conversation level sets how simple or detailed the writing is (a five-year-old gets very short, simple sentences; a teenager or adult gets fuller, more technical text), and the language sets which Wikipedia is used, so a child set to German gets a German page from the German Wikipedia.
Peko uses these pages for subjects an encyclopedia covers. For news, things your child made up, or crafts, Peko still makes a picture. If a name could mean several things (Mercury, for example), Peko asks which one. The same safety checks and topics-to-avoid apply, and the page appears in your child's Creations like any other picture.
Dates and numbers
For calendars and forecasts, Peko looks up the real date and the real forecast, works out a calendar's days itself, and checks that a day of the week matches its date. A picture is still drawn by an AI, so it can occasionally get a number or a word wrong. Take a quick look at anything important, like dates and times, before you rely on it.
Good to know
- Pictures are made by a third-party AI image model, and Peko adds its own safety checks around it.
- Pictures print on your home printer the same way as stories. See "Printing from your Peko Pal".
- Deleting your child from the Peko Pal app deletes their pictures too.
